About Us

The purposes of the ILGCA are to:

• Work closely with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and other state, local, and property management officials to safeguard the rights of individuals to geocache in the state of Illinois.
• Provide an opportunity for geocachers in the state of Illinois to gather, socialize, and establish a community.
• Promote the “Cache In Trash Out” and “Leave No Trace” programs to help in the maintenance of parks and trail systems.
• Educate Illinois geocachers about the responsible use and protection of our natural resources.
• Educate those new to geocaching, the state, local, and property management officials, and anyone else interested in the sport of geocaching to help achieve overall community appreciation and promote all points above.

Board of Directors

Announcement:

The ILGCA Board of Directors would like to  announce that Deborah Coe has made the difficult decision to step down from her position, effective immediately as of January 16th, 2025. This decision comes as a result of ongoing personal and professional commitments that require her full attention.

We sincerely appreciate Deb’s time and dedication over the last year and a half. Her insight, knowledge, and hard work have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Deb for her contributions and wish her the best of luck in her ongoing business endeavors. We also look forward to seeing her on the Geocaching trail.

Due to the suddenness of her departure and the adjustments required to fill her position officially, it will take The Board some time to complete these requirements and adjust to her absence. Once we have managed these changes, we will begin the search for a qualified individual to fill the vacancy on the Board.

Executive Committee

In the absence of an Executive Committee, the Board of Directors will carry out the Executive Committee duties, until such a time that there is enough member interest and eligibility to hold an election.
